Our Team


Randy Crafton

Director of Engineering
Randy was the Senior Manager for the Commodore Card at Vanderbilt, which used a Diebold CS/Gold card system. The Vanderbilt Commodore Card program under Randy's direction won CBORD's Visionary Award. Randy managed over 65,000 cards, and nearly 1000 locations. He now leads our engineering staff in new product development, existing product maintenance and improvement. He makes our visions realities and our client's requests possible.

James Doyle

VP Business Development
James worked with his partners and the Cleveland Clinic developing business solutions and bringing new technologies to the medical community across the U.S. working with companies such as Siemens Medical. He now focuses on Business Development and new Product Development for JSA. He also works with our sales department building new relationships and growing our client base.

Christopher Fruge

Lead Friendship Engineer
Christopher Fruge managed the BYU Signature Card Operations under Howard Lewis. The BYU Signature Card is widely recognized as one of the largest card programs in the world processing over 70,000 per day at over 2500 locations. Chris was a particular expert at integrating the Diebold CS/Gold system with the other systems around campus. Christopher now works extremely hard everyday at JSA to make sure our schools run smoothly with current StudentLink versions. In addition he will be working on a new StudentLink upgrade product.

Steve Gansel

Chief Financial Assistant
Steve worked in both the Commodore Card and Dining offices at Vanderbilt University before coming to JSA. He was responsible for multiple reconciliations including off-campus card purchases and on campus contract vendor programs. Before Vanderbilt he was an independent bookkeeper managing the accounting needs for several small businesses in the Franklin, TN area. Steve has responsibility for a wide variety of accounting tasks here at JSA.

Jon Gear

VP of Operations
Jon worked at The Ohio State University for many years as the BuckID card program manager. The BuckID program at Ohio State is one of the largest and most successful card programs in the world. Jon managed over 200,000 cardholders and over 1000 locations. Jon has been a widely recognized leader in the card community, especially the Blackboard Unix edition, for many years. Jon served on the Blackboard User's Board for three years and was President of the board for one year. Jon serves as the VP of Operations at JSA. He works hard ensuring JSA applications remain PCI compliant. Jon is also responsible for the monitoring, installation and optimization of JSA's applications and databases.

David Johnson

President
David worked as the system administrator for Harvard University Crimson Cash ID Card Program under the direction of Jeff Cuppett, and Raymond Cross. Harvard has been an innovative leader in ID card technology and has won numerous awards for their excellence. They have over 200,000 cards, and 500 locations. David also worked at RSA Data Security as an expert in implementing leading data security techniques for the largest corporations, financial institutions, and world governments. He now steers JSA's direction, learning and development.

Tamara Johnson

CFO
Tamara has a master's degree in Finance from Northeastern University and a degree in social work from Texas Christian University. Tamara met her sales goal of $1M for Smith Barney as a financial advisor in her first year alone, which is a remarkable accomplishment by itself, but especially in a male dominated industry. She ensures that the JSA balance sheet is strong and stable. Through Tamara's guidance, JSA has continually avoided outside financing. She has forced the company to focus on building outstanding products, services, and sustainable pricing.

Wendy Rabe

Customer Service Executive
Wendy managed the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse TowerCard program. Despite being a small school, Wendy nearly single handedly managed over 175 locations with over $750,000 in annual revenues. This includes the management of the Blackboard UNIX Edition transaction system. She now works for JSA making sure our clients needs are met rapidly and effectively. She uses her expertise in the field to help them grow their programs and their card offices.

Andrew Ripley

Senior Sales Manager
Andrew was a top sales representative at IBM generating over $7.9 million in sales, exceeding his sales quotas. Andrew also worked at CBS Sports in broadcasting. At JSA he has grown our client base to over one hundred schools working diligently and building quality relationships in our field.

Matt Stapleton

Software Developer
Matt worked as a Business Systems Analyst for Terminal Reality video game development studio before going to work as a Software Developer for Core Action Group. While working there, in addition to assisting in the creation of the company's social networking site, he developed an RFID-based tracking and video recording system used to automatically create video content for delivery via the web. Currently, Matt is working on new development for future projects at JSA.

Dawn Roberts

Customer Service Executive
Dawn managed the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point - Point Card program. Within a few years she grew the relatively small school to over $1M in Point Card revenues with 200 locations. This includes the management of the Blackboard UNIX Edition transaction system, and recently the CBORD Odyssey system. She now works for JSA making sure our clients needs are met rapidly and effectively. She uses her expertise in the field to help them grow their programs and their card offices.

Scott Andress

Interactive Design
Scott was part of the original design team for the PRSA Polaris award-winning Loma Linda University & Medical Center web site. He later served as a web site administrator and designer for several high-profile Silicon Valley corporations, including Palm and Apple.
